Sakura can be found in Mt. Prospect which is a suburb of Chicago that you can get to on one of the Metra lines. I have some family that live in the suburbs of Chicago that I don’t see all that often but the last time I visited we went to Sakura. Sakura is a Japanese restaurant. We had my aunt order since she knew more about the foods and what we’d like than we did, since she worked and went to college in Japan for several years. She ordered Shrimp and Vegetable Tempura
Chicken Katsu and Sukiyaki, the sukiyaki was cooked in front of us for us. The chicken Katsu is a version of fried chicken a little similar to the shrimp and vegetable tempura pictured above. The ways they are done however is different and gives off different flavors and textures as you can see in the photos.
It also came with rice and miso soup. Since we were celebrating my belated birthday they also brought out a scoop of ice cream with a candle in it, sang (even the people in the back who were working could be heard) and took a picture for us to take home.
The spoon was super tiny and cute.
We got there pretty late but the waitress we had was friendly and nice and made the evening even more enjoyable. All the food was wonderful. It also wasn’t packed, probably because of the time, there were only a couple other groups there but everyone was spread out so not to disturb anyone else and for privacy.
