The Common Cup is a cafe in Rogers Park which can be found off the Morse Red line stop at 1501 W. Morse Avenue. I stopped by on a hot day for a cup of iced tea. The place was pretty full with a wide variety of ice cream and baked goods.
The tea I ordered was a bit burnt, bitter and highly disappointing. I would guess that it was just the batch because of how busy they were or that tea is not their strong suit. Their ice cream looked delicious but I didn’t end up trying it. The shop had a nice artsy vibe and apparently has performances almost every Friday.
The Common Cup is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. They save their tips to donate towards local non for profits. Overall it seems like a great place to get some ice cream and build community, I’m just still sad over my cup of iced tea.
