Thai Spoon is a Thai restaurant in the South Loop at 601 S Wabash Avenue. Whenever I go I usually order the same thing. A Thai iced tea and BBQ pork fried rice.
One of the last times I went though I was meeting family there and they had just gotten off their flight and when I had arrived they had ordered several appetizers, gyoza, crab ragoon, and Tod Mun. I love gyoza and I enjoy crab ragoon but my aunt and uncle ended up eating all of the Tod Mun because it was a bit spicy for me.
Like always, I ordered the BBQ pork fried rice. On the menu it is found under fried rice and they give multiple options such as tofu, chicken, shrimp, beef or BBQ pork fried rice. A friend had ordered it and split it with me at a meeting once and I absolutely loved it.
We decided to order dessert, whenever my aunt and uncle visit they love ordering the bubble tea, no matter if it’s freezing outside or sweltering hot. We did order some to go, but before that we split a dessert, the fried banana spring roll. It was really good and a fun thing to try.
Thai Spoon is one of the first restaurants I went to when I moved to Chicago, and I still go back pretty often. Thai Spoon isn’t an expensive restaurant and I’ve enjoyed all of my meals there. It’s also connected to a Travelodge, and if someone’s staying there it’s a pretty easy meeting spot for them.
