Kim Kwang-seok mural road 김광석길

Last year I went to a musical with my coteachers about this beloved musician called Kim Kwang-seok, the musical was called 바람이 불어오는 곳 Acoustic Musical. In Daegu there is an alley, a long  pathway covered in art and sculptures most of which are in memory or dedicated to the late Kim Kwang-seok who was born in Daegu. He was an activist folk singer popular in the 1980’s and 1990’s who commited suicide in 1996.

The road can get a little crowded with people stopping and taking pictures, but it’s long enough to enjoy and not too difficult to get to. Plus you can listen to his music while you walk, sit at murals for pictures or go to one of the many cafes in the area. It’s about a 350 meter long road of statues and art depicting his life and music and in the fall theres a singing contest.
