수산회집

For seafood lovers being near the coast in Korea is heaven, especially at places like 수산회집. Which is where we stopped for dinner.

I don’t eat a lot of seafood. This, well this was a lot and somehow I ended up at the table where no-one wanted to eat seafood. There was snail, shrimp, crab, octopus, potato cakes, eel, snail, seaweed, and some sort of really chewy mollusk. I also can’t eat anything that’s looking back at me so when my coworker handed me one of those big pink shrimps to break in half I ended up throwing it back on the table after the first crack as the whiskers brushed my hand. What I ended up eating from this, was the edamame, fried squid, some octopus, crab, sweet potato, and pumpkin. I tried some of the mollusk but it was really chewy in a hard popping chewy way that you don’t think you should be eating. A lot of stuff on the center plate was also the innards of different sea creatures and, well our table wasn’t interested.

This was a super fancy meal and it’s sad that so many of my coworkers and I didn’t enjoy it, but I learned a lot of my coworkers don’t like fish or seafood, which made an entire trip to the sea where we ate nothing but fish and seafood difficult. But if you do like seafood then places like 수산회집 which are right next to the dock and have tons of tanks of fish outside are absolutely perfect for you.
