교수보쌈 & 감자탕 Professor Bossam and Gamjatang 24 hour restaurant

For lunch I wanted to find something cool to eat and we found 교수보쌈 & 감자탕 in Hongdae. Up a steep set of stairs is a small restaurant offering a variety of Korean dishes including potato and pork stew, pork and lettuce wraps, spicy beef tripe hot-pot, fried rice, octopus, hangover stew and what I really wanted- Namyeong.

냉 면 Namyeong is my go-to summer noodle dish. Served with ice, a boiled egg, vegetables, vinegar and “spicy” mustard I inhale several of these dishes every summer. Especially at places like 교수보쌈 & 감자탕 that allow me to decide how much vinegar, mustard, and chilli sauce I want to add by doing it myself. My namyeong was 5,000 won.

Nathalie ordered the 뼈해 장국 (Ppyeo-haejangguk) ox bone hangover stew a piping hot stew with spicy broth and full of meat still on the bones deliciousness. It’s eaten to help with hangovers after a night of partying or any time because it’s considered super healthy and good for you. Her stew was 7,000 won and came with a side of rice.

They also have an English menu and pictures up on the wall so you can pick what you want. While our late lunch time at the restaurant wasn’t very busy it can be busy later in the evening, especially due to their limited seats.
