멘야산다이메

Towards the end of my Seollal vacation I went with my friend in Daegu to her favorite ramen spot. I was pretty exhausted still from the olympics and unsure what to order so I picked the miso ramen thinking it would be like all of the miso soup I’d had in Japanese restaurants, but boy was I wrong. It was spicy.

Which miso can be, I just thankfully have never run into spicy miso soup. The food was delicious, that of what I could withstand.  My friend ordered the donkatsu ramen which wasn’t spicy at all and her absolute favorite. If I return to 멘야산다이메 or one of it’s counterparts in Seoul that’s what I will get. We also ordered gyoza which I inhaled.

The shop is a bit small with bar seats and a few tables. It’s also popular, while there wasn’t a line in front of us we still had to sit outside on one of their benches for a little bit  before a table opened up and when we left there was a long line waiting to get in. Note: They are open for lunch and dinner but not before lunch time (11:30am-11pm). They also serve Asahi beer and sake.
