For lunch on our second day we had kalguksu which is a noodle dish, and one of my favorite Korean foods. It usually comes with shellfish, while not my favorite thing can usually be ignored or picked out. On an island like Ulleungdo including some sort of shellfish was unavoidable. They included small mussels similar to what we’d had for lunch the day before as well as cucumber and a slice of pumpkin. There were so few of the mussels though that I found one, dropped it and then never found it again. The restaurant was small (with all of us in it) but we were able to sit at tables and in chairs which was nice.
This was the first dish we’d had with pumpkin in it which is considered a specialty of the island so I was instantly ecstatic. It ended up being my favorite meal on the trip. This is another restaurant right near the main port.
Oooo pumpkin? I’d love to try this one day!
It was really good! (though I love pumpkin) I hope you can try it some day! ^_^
