Bahá’i Temple

A friend of mine had a project for class that required her to go to the Bahá’i House of Worship in Wilmette and asked me to go with her since it was so far away. Her parents ended up driving us there, otherwise we would have had to take the red line and the purple line out to Linden and still go for a hike.  The Bahá’i House of Worship in Wilmette is the only Bahá’i temple in the United States and the oldest surviving one in the world. It’s located at 100 Linden Avenue Wilmette, Illinois.  It first opened it’s doors in 1953 as a place for “all religions, races and sects may come together within its universal shelter”. There are currently 7 Bahá’i Temples in the world and all have a similar theme of a circular temple with nine sides and beautiful gardens.  The temple is beautiful and peaceful. It includes a welcome center that explains the history of the temple and religion. They offer multiple services daily and the first Sunday of the month is held in Spanish and a cappella choir.
