Matilda at Cambridge Theatre

When we got to our hotel, a few hours before check in, my cousin and I sat in the lobby and waited. I went through the brochures that were around and saw a brochure for Matilda. Growing up Matilda was one of my favorite movies to watch and when I had heard that it was being made into a musical I was really excited, except that it didn’t look like it was coming to Chicago any time soon. So when I had time I went online to see how much tickets would be, found the cheapest tickets I could and checked with my cousin to see if she’d be willing to go with me. It worked out that we got to go on our final night.

My friend after dinner walked us over to the theater and we joined the line to our seats, the very top row. I loved the play, almost cried a few times. It was fun to see what sorts of snacks they had pulled out during intermission, like Häagen-Dazs. It was a great way to end our time in London.

When the show let out and we went to the tube it was packed, since we’d been in the theater district a lot of shows got out around the same time. I thought it was interesting that a lot of their shows seem to be going constantly, like we walked past Wicked, The Phantom and the Opera, and the Lion King earlier in the day.
