Pierogi Heaven is a small Polish restaurant located at 169 North Wells Street. A friend and I met up there for a quick small lunch. Pierogi’s are Polish dumplings stuffed with meat, cheese, potatoes, sauerkraut, or fruit and topped with fried onions or butter. Pierogi heaven sells inexpensive specials in sets of three, so I ordered six pierogis 3 of which were potato and cheese and the other set of 3 were meat and spinach. I topped them with fried onions and ordered a side of sour cream. My friend got bacon on top of hers as well.
It wasn’t particularly busy when we went around 1pm but it did get a bit busier after we sat down. There isn’t a ton of seating, but there was enough while we were there. We ordered in a somewhat cafeteria style, telling the person on the other side of the counter what we wanted and they scooped it out of the covered platters in front of them, so we didn’t have to wait on our food. I enjoyed both types of pierogi that I got but liked the meat and spinach a lot more than my potato and cheese ones.
