I booked a couple nights at Stay 53 which was a short walk from Sangmu station. It’s in the area I stayed last time I was in Gwangju so I was already familiar with it. There’s a lot of hotels and love motels in the area and it’s very convenient for getting to either the airport or the KTX.
The hotel seems to be new (seeing as when I was there there were still grand opening things up). The rooms were decent but with little to no storage for people staying during longer trips. There wasn’t a closet or a dresser, instead there was a coat hanger for people to hang up a couple things under which were robes and towels. There was however a mini fridge with three daily replaced water bottles, a nice area for sitting, a shelf under a mirror for getting ready in the morning and a desk with a laptop you could use. The bathroom was fully open, with no door separating it from the sleeping area and instead just glass walls so you could see into where the bathtub was. Frosted glass doors separated the toilet and shower, which still isn’t super private. The toiletries were also single use sample sizes stored in a box on the get-ready shelf.
I stayed in the Standard Double so I’m unsure if staying in a different style room would offer more storage/a more private bathroom experience from anyone you may be sharing the room with. Also when I stayed there was no do not disturb door sign options or ways to subtly ask for a greener hotel experience i.e. reusing your towels. There also wasn’t anywhere to hang up said towels after using them, unless you wanted to use the coat hanger near the entrance.
I did really enjoy my stay and the location was very convenient.
