Gyeongbokgung, the palace greatly blessed by heaven” was originally founded in 1395. In 192-1598 the palace was destroyed by a fire during Imjin war, a Japanese invasion. It was reconstructed in 1867. It was again destroyed by the Japanese. Full restoration has been in progress since 1990.
A friend and I took a short walk on a really hot day through the Gyeongbokgung palace grounds. The palace has a changing of the guards that we missed, and to get in was inexpensive.
