Virginia- Skyline Drive

DSCN5406

There are several Skyline Drives throughout the US at least. The one in Virginia runs through the Shenandoah National Park and Blue Ridge Mountains. It’s a 105 mile (168.9km) long road where animals are likely to run out. There are 75 overlooks where cars can pull over (when the area is not under construction) and look out over the mountains. The above photo was taken from stopping at one of these overlooks. The speed for the drive is 35mph for the entire length and to enter the skyline drive does cost money. It changes depending on season. It’s a beautiful way to take a look at the Shenandoah National Park and Blue Ridge Mountains without having to go hiking. There are not many places to stop and get gas, so make sure you’re vehicle can make it.
