Comfort Station

In the middle of Logan Square is the Comfort Station located at 2579 N Milwaukee Ave. It’s a art building, usually whenever I go by it’s closed off but recently while walking past I noticed the door was open and inside the walls were covered in art. The building looks like a little cottage and somewhat out of place yet magical in the city. It was built in the late 1920’s by the West Chicago Parks Commission (now Chicago Park distract). The idea of the Comfort Station was to have a building as a warming station with public restrooms.  Several were built throughout the city and only 2 remain. In 2010 it was converted from it’s 1940’s tool shed to the multidisciplinary art space that it is today. The Comfort Station shows monthly art exhibitions that are open on Sundays from 12-3.  On Wednesdays at 8pm with weather permitting they have film showings and on Thursdays at 7:30 there is music.
