Old Fort Harrod State Park

Our first stop on our last day in Kentucky was the Old Fort which was the first settlement in Kentucky. It is a full-scale replica of a fort built-in 1774 by James Harrod. Tickets are $7 and include entrance to the Lincoln Marriage Temple and museum on the edge of the parks entrance.

Also on the grounds is a pioneer cemetery and a monument dedicated to the pioneers of Kentucky. Both of these are free to view.

The fort hours change depending on season so make sure you double check that they’re open. While open there are several different reenactors around to show you how things were done during the time and to talk about what life was like in the fort. They also have a gift shop where you can buy some old time-y stuff and a farm.
